Bydgoszcz University Science of Technology officially opened the Genetics and Molecular Biology Laboratory at the Faculty of Animal Breeding and Biology.
Ribbon-cutting ceremony was be held by the Rector -Prof. Marek Adamski, Dean of the Faculty of Animal Breeding and Biology - Assoc. Prof. Aleksandra Dunisławska, and Vice-Dean for Education and Student Affairs - Assoc.Prof. Natasza Święcicka.
The genetics and molecular biology laboratory is a comprehensively equipped laboratory for conducting classes in molecular biology and genetics, as well as genetic diagnostics and molecular genetics. It contains equipment for the isolation and analysis of nucleic acids, including high-quality pipette sets, a laminar chamber, laboratory centrifuges, electrophoresis equipment, tissue homogenizers, PCR and real-time PCR thermocyclers.
This year, an NGS sequencer and a nanopore sequencer were purchased for research purposes. As part of the investment in the development of molecular techniques at the Faculty of Animal Breeding and Biology - also dedicated to students and employees of the Faculty of Medicine - a flow cytometer with imaging was also purchased (value PLN 0.5 million).
At the end of this year, the facility will be equipped with microscopes with cameras and tablets.
