Awarding the UTaLS honorary degree to Prof. Jan Harasymowicz from the Cracow University of Science and Technology and Prof. Bolesław Wojciechowicz from the Poznań University of Science and Technology.
Establishing the Faculty of Management.
Opening of the Regional Innovation Center.

UTaLS was recognized as the best University in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in the Newsweek ranking.
New University authorities were elected: prof. Antoni Bukaluk became the Recor of the University.
At the 57th Fair of Inventions, Research and New Techniques “Brussels Innova 2008” inventions by Prof. Janusz Prusiński, Assoc. Prof. Grażyna Harasimowicz-Hermann and Prof. Janusz Hermann received medals: gold with distinction and bronze.

Implementing the program called “Implementation of the second stage of the Regional Innovation Center.” The focus of the project is to create a network of research laboratories in the field of technical and natural sciences within the organizational structures of the University of Science and Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz, as well as to strengthen the quantitative and qualitative potential of the University in the field of research infrastructure, enabling research for the economic environment at the highest scientific level. The laboratories with dedicated equipment will cooperate with scientific and technical organizations, associations, industrial parks, and enterprises in specialized research.
Launching the activities of the UTaLS Children's University
Under the order of the Rector of the University of Science and Technology and Science No. 38/2008/2009, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering changed its name to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
The Faculty of Agriculture of the UTaLS celebrated its 40th anniversary.
 

The University inaugurated a new academic year, which marks the 60th anniversary of its functioning.

Rector, dr. hab. inż. Antoni Bukaluk, was honoured with an honorary doctorate from Odlar Yurdu University in Baku, Azerbaijan.
 

Celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the University are underway.
The Plenary Assembly of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP) was held at the University.
Awarding an UTaLS honorary doctorate to prof. Gerhard Ertl, Nobel Prize Laurate in Chemistry in 2007.

Teams of scientists from the Faculty of Agriculture and Biotechnology and the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering won medals for their inventions at international fairs and invention competitions in Brussels, Geneva, and Paris.
Eng. Karol Bocian from WRiB won the main prize at Student-Inventor 2012/2013 National Competition of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education while eng. Anna Zajdel from WZ won the Diamond Grant. They both pursue their studies at our University in master’s programs.
The last Innovation and Patents Exhibition, WIPRO BIO 2013, was held as part of the UTaLS Scientists for the Economy of the Region project.
In the academic year 2013/2013 , the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering will launch a unique country-wise program in English: computer-aided engineering projects 
Dr. inż. Piotr Szewczykowski from the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering, and MSc Radosław Ratajczak from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering became innovation brokers, among thirty in Poland, selected in a competition organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education
December 31, 2013, end of the second stage of RIC.

UTaLS became one of the twelve victors of the Innovation Incubator competition of the Minister of Science and Higher Education. 
Dr. inż. Marta Kolasa (WTIiE) became a winner of a competition within the POMOST program of the Foundation for Polish Science.
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has started testing rail vehicles in the newly opened Large-Size Structures Research Laboratory developed in cooperation with PESA.
The Faculty of Agriculture and Biotechnology celebrated its 45th anniversary.
The President of the Republic of Poland awarded Assoc. Prof. Stanisław Rolbiecki and Assoc. Prof. Jadwiga Andrzejewska from the Faculty of Agriculture and Biotechnology, academic titles of professors of agricultural sciences.
Dr. inż. Anna Sławińska from the Faculty of Animal Breeding and Biology (Doctor Sławińska is the only person from Bydgoszcz and one working at one of five natural science universities in the country)  received a scholarship from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for young outstanding research scientists.

The University has concluded an agreement on the continuation of cooperation with the European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN in Geneva.
Professor Józef Szala was awarded an honorary doctoral degree at the Opole University of Science and Technology, and Professor Bogdan Żółtowski received a doctoral degree at the Khmelnytskyi National University in Ukraine.
The invention of the Hydrogenic Electrolyzer” by Bogdan Żółtowski, Piotr Stanowski and Grzegorz Minder won the silver medal at the Brussels Innova fair.
The Faculty of Construction, Architecture and Environmental Engineering is launching a new field of study starting in 2015/2016: shale gas engineering.
Tomasz Zaboklicki, the president and architect of the business success of PESA Bydgoszcz SA, was awarded an honorary doctorate by UTaLS.
Completing two investments at the Fordon campus: the new Rectorate became available, and other buildings were renovated and underwent thermal modernization.
An invention by Professor Tomasz Topoliński and the student Angela Andrzejewska “Dynamic and measurement hip orthosis with a wireless diagnostic and measurement module and a method of measuring diagnostic parameters of the hip,” was awarded the silver medal at the 43rd International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva. 
Start Part, the student initiation ceremony (otrzęsiny), ended gravely. Three of the persons injured died.

On October 14, the academic community of our University remembers with deep sadness the events that took place at the beginning of the 2015/2016 academic year. The program of official celebrations: October 14, 2016. at 11:00 a.m. joint placing the wreaths and candles at the “memorial boulder” between buildings 3.1 and 2.1 with the flag ceremony; October 14, 2016, about 1 p.m.: placing wreaths and candles on the graves of the deceased students at our university: Paweł Garachów, Natalia Górniak, and Paulina Tomasik. October 23, 2016, at 6:30 p m., a mass on the all-Bydgoszcz Inauguration of the Academic Year 2016/2017 with the banner ceremony at Basilica of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Bydgoszcz, Gen. Mikołaja Bołtucia 5 Street (Fordon) and the concert "In Memoriam."
