A regional branch of the Main Medical Library (MML) has been opened at the Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology. It is the sixteenth facility of its kind in Poland.
The Bydgoszcz branch offers readers access to over 4,000 books and journals. Additionally, the library provides access to 660,000 records from the Polish Medical Bibliography, 77 titles of Polish electronic journals, 8 e-book platforms, and major electronic databases of scientific journals such as Science, Nature, Oxford Journals, EBSCO, and Springer. MML also organizes specialist training sessions and workshops.
"The opening of this branch is another important step in supporting the education of doctors and nurses at the Faculty of Medicine of the Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology, as well as within our city and region. We also invite doctors, nurses, and medical students from other universities to take advantage of the library’s resources," - said Prof. Marek Adamski, Rector of Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology.
The Bydgoszcz branch was established by an ordinance of the Minister of Health. Previously, a MML branch operated in Toruń, but it was closed.
"As the Main Medical Library, we aim to be closer to students and researchers. Bydgoszcz is an important medical center in the region, where future medical professionals are being educated and scientific research is being conducted. I would like to sincerely thank the authorities of Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology for their openness and excellent cooperation in establishing this branch," - said Dr. Feliks Orchowski, Acting Director of the Main Medical Library.
