Scientists from the Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology have once again been ranked among the most cited researchers in the world.
The recently published World’s Top 2% Scientists 2025 List, prepared by experts from Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier and SciTech Strategies, includes as many as eight scientists from PBS. This is a significant increase compared to previous years and clear evidence of the growing scientific effectiveness and global impact of the university's academics.
The World's Top 2% Scientists ranking is one of the most prestigious bibliometric rankings in the world. It includes scientists with the greatest impact on the development of global science, assessed on the basis of the number of citations, the Hirsch index, the number of co-authorships, and the authorship position in publications. The classification includes two categories: career-long citation impact data and recent single-year citation metrics for 2024.
The career-long citation impact category includes:
- Prof. Jacek F. Gieras – Faculty of Telecommunications, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering
- Prof. Michał Choraś – Faculty of Telecommunications, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering
- Assoc. Prof. Rafał Kozik – Faculty of Telecommunications, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering
- Assoc. Prof. Janina Kabatc-Borcz – Faculty of Chemical Technology and Engineering
The 2024 citation ranking includes:
- Prof. Michał Choraś

This year's edition mentions over 1400 scientists with Polish affiliation, which highlights the competitiveness and high standards of the evaluation. It is all the more gratifying that so many representatives of PBS have achieved world-class results.
“This is not only an individual success, but also an institutional one. It not only shows that our scientists conduct high-level research, but also that their work is cited and used around the world. This is a measure of true scientific effectiveness,” comments Assoc. Prof. Łukasz Skowroński, Vice-Rector for Science and Evaluation.
The dynamic growth in the number of PBS scientists included in the ranking testifies to the effectiveness of the strategy for research development, internationalization, and promotion of science. The Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology is not only building its position as a strong regional research and development center, but is also increasingly marking its presence on the international arena.
We warmly congratulate all the distinguished scientists!
