Minister of Education and Science gave consent to establishing a medical programme at the Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology. Later this year, the Faculty of Medicine will be created within the University structures.
In February 2023, the effort to prepare a new programme application began. In August, the documentation containing, among others, the academic curriculum, the list of academic teachers along with their teaching and research achievements, and a description of the infrastructure necessary for educating doctors was submitted to the Ministry of Education and Science.

‘This is an important decision for the University and Bydgoszcz. On October 27, having analysed the application, the consent to establish master's degree studies with the general academic profile in the field of medicine was granted. I would like to congratulate and express my gratitude for months of intensive work,’ said Minister Łukasz Schreiber while handing over the decision to the University authorities.
In December 2023, the Faculty of Medicine will be established at the University. The first students will start education there in October 2024.

‘Over the years, our university has always responded to the needs of Bydgoszcz and the region. This is also the case when it comes to medical studies. Obtaining permission to establish the medical programme concludes an 8-month period of work related to securing clinical facilities, assembling experienced staff and securing financial resources. I would like to thank everyone involved in this project, PBS employees, government authorities, city authorities, as well as the management of our partner hospitals and medical facilities. There are tasks, such as the incorporation of the city hospital into the University structure and the construction of a modern dissecting room or a medical simulation center, that lie ahead,' says Prof. Marek Adamski, Rector of PBS.

For the purposes of educating doctors, the City of Bydgoszcz will provide the University with Wielospecjalistyczny Szpital Miejski (the Multispecialty City Hospital). Students of the PBS Faculty of Medicine will also study and practice at Szpital MSWiA w Bydgoszczy, 10. Wojskowy Szpital Kliniczny z Polikliniką, Centrum Onkologii w Bydgoszczy, Wojewódzki Szpital Obserwacyjno-Zakaźny w Bydgoszczy, Wojewódzki Szpital dla Nerwowo i Psychicznie Chorych w Świeciu, and Regionalny Szpital Specjalistyczny w Grudziądzu.
